Well, I had great plans of photo greeting card this year with the pregnant belly, but we didn't get them done in time. So, I thought I would just blog it and still at least share the picture. This is the gigantic tree we bought this year... a 9 foot Colorado Pine that takes up a very large portion of our livign room. I am very allergic to real trees, so an artificial is the ony way to go, and this one was just too beautiful to pass up. It was pre-lit, so Kris was pleased to help put it up. :)
Kris and I shared Christmas time with my famliy last weekend, it was a lot of fun! The whole family was there, including my step-sister and her precious new baby (only 4 months old). With everyone, there were 9 adults, 5 children, and an infant...it was a big group! Here is a picture of the clan:
We had a blast! I love buying presents, for the children especially, and this year I think they really loved them! The best response was my youngest nephew here in the front. We got him a Spiderman pup tent that has an inflatable air mattress as the base. As he opened it, he exclaimed "Allright! Spiderman!", along with other shouts of joy. Then, after looking at it silently for a few minutes, threw his hands in the air and pulled them down quickly in tight fists, screaming "YES!" It was great! :) It makes me think how much fun it will be as I enter motherhood to watch my own children on Christmas morning..what a blessing this will be! :) We will share Christmas with Kris' family this year on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. His family around here includes his grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins, so it too will be a large gathreing! Don't you just love big, loud, family events? I love them, they sure make holidays come alive! Well, here is to you and yours this holiday as we celebrate the birth of our LORD and Savior!! Let us not forget what he did for us not only in the manger, but on the cross 2000 years ago! May your Christmas be blessed and shared with those you love! Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas!!!
The Baby, 33 Weeks
We are getting closer!!! Here is what the little one has been up to this week:
This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and measures 17.2 inches from the top of his head to his heels. Thanks to his recent weight gain, he's losing that wrinkled alien look. Most of your baby's bones are hardening now, but his skull is still quite pliable. It's actually in separate pieces with spaces in between. This flexible structure allows your baby's head to compress so it can fit through your relatively narrow birth canal. The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance. This is totally harmless, normal, and temporary. Your baby's head will quickly take on a more rounded appearance, but his skull plates won't completely fuse until he's about 9 to 18 months old.
Well, we went to the doctor again on Monday, and everything is still just fine. The heartbeat dropped to 125 beats per minute, but the doctor said that it was normal for it to drop this late in the pregnancy. (I was most concerned when the nurse read that number to me at first!) She said we will see more variances in the heartbeat from now on, it just means the communication between the brain and the heart has developed, and everything is fine. My blood pressure has also been fine, no worries from the small scare about 4 weeks ago.
I finished my last days of work this week. WOOHOO!!!!! I am now officially a stay at home mommy! :) I have wanted to be in this stage of my life for so long now, I can't tell you how excited I am! I know the work will be harder, and the hours a lot less flexible :), but I am so ready to focus on raising my family and taking care of my house and husband, nothing could rob this joy right now! Kris is excited that I will be at home, too...he loves it when I am here to take care of things and keep the house in order. I think he likes it that he gets dinner when he gets home, too! :)
I am getting a little nervous about the nursery, though! I theoretically have 7 weeks until the big day...but what if I am not ready? What if he or she comes early?! There are still things we need (especially a glider), the closet is still full of random stuff (NOT baby related), and the floor is still covered with all the generous gifts we have received! I don't know what to do with the stuff in the closet, and am overwhelmed with how to organize the nursery. I am relieved to be off work now, to have time to get this stuff done...but still...where to put it all?!?! We have another closet in the office that I will have to use for all the junk that lived in the guest room closet (now the nursery), but even that closet is overflowing. What fun it will be to tackle this this week.
But for now...I am going to forget about it for 3 days and enjoy the Christmas holidays. I pray all of you have a blessed and joyful Christmas!!!

The Baby, 31 Weeks
Your baby measures about 16 inches long. He weighs a little over 3 pounds and is headed for another growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side. Of course, he doesn't yet understand that this movement means "no," but you'll be surprised how quickly he picks up on that and other gestures after he's born. The fat layer he's been accumulating for the last few weeks has caused his arms and legs to fill out nicely.
It seems these little "updates" from Babycenter.com are getting shorter...not a whole lot of organ development to talk about anymore. Now the baby is just growing in size, and putting on weight. :) I can now see some of the movements under my skin...it is really amazing! We went to the doctor this week, we are now going every 2 weeks. I have gained 5 pounds since the last visit (which was actually 3 weeks ago), so Kris and my doctor were happy. That puts me at 5 pounds heavier than pre-pregnancy weight. I am glad I didn't balloon and turn into a whale, but happy that there is now a little gain, it means the baby is gaining and healthy. :) The heartbeat also slowed a little, they said that was normal for this time. It went from 150 to about 140. I never get over that part at the office...I LOVE hearing the heartbeat of this little person growing inside of me!!!!!
Well, we had our baby shower this past weekend, and it was GREAT!!! It was really a lot of fun, and we got so much stuff! :) We got most of our big things, including the stroller, car seat, swing, and pack & play. Not to mention all the little stuff... LOTS of blankets, sheets, bath supplies, toys, bottles, diapers, and other miscellaneous. You should see the nursery! My sweet daddy is making us some bookshelves with baskets to store everything, but until those are here, there are piles and stacks of stuff all over the nursery! It looks like Santa came early in our back bedroom! FUN!! FUN!!! I am especially thankful that my whole family got to be here!!! My dad and step-mom, along with my brother and sister all came down Saturday, and we got to spend Saturday night and Sunday together...it was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed having them here. Thank you for coming, guys!!! We are truly blessed to have such generous family and friends! Our church family has been so wonderful to us, thank you to all of you!!! I LOVE YOU and praise the Lord for putting each and every one of you in our lives! It's not the gifts, but the unconditional love, support, and encouragement that I am so very grateful for! God is so good to us!!

3-D Ultrasound Photos! :)
It finally worked!!! Here is one of the best 3-D photos we got. Isn't this just the cutest baby you have EVER seen?! :) It's funny...some people look at it and declare with absolute certainty that it is a boy or a girl. I can't tell...it still just looks like a precious baby to me. I love the chubby little cheeks and the adorable button nose. Some have also decided whose nose or lips the baby has... varying upon who you ask, of course. I am not sure how "real" this picture is, or how much of it is computer-generated, but I have had a few friends who have had this type of ultrasound, and swear it looks just like their baby once born. So, I believe this is a pretty good representation of the angel we will meet in February. :) Doesn't he or she look peaceful?!

A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and fills out your uterus. Her eyes open and close, she's able to distinguish between light and dark, and she can even follow a light source back and forth. Once she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have a visual acuity of only 20/400 — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. ("Normal" vision in adults is 20/20.) Since you'll want to hold her close as much as possible, you'll be in the perfect spot for her to get a good look at you.
